7 Anti-Aging Tips for 30-Somethings

So you’re in your 30s? You’re suddenly cursing the sun for the fine lines showing up on your face and freaking out about the three gray hairs hidden deep in your dark brown tresses? Welcome to this fourth decade of living on Earth my friend!
Perhaps I speak for myself when saying, this decade is exciting. We’ve become a more confident, accomplished version of ourselves with careers and routines. Some of us are married and some of us are in the throes of motherhood. One thing I think we can all agree on is the bodily changes that sneak up on us like a cat in the dark. Ladies, if you have not already, this is the time to add anti-aging practices to our skin care, our eating habits, and even our exercise regimen! If you don’t have some of these daily practices, no worries, we will share the best bio hacks to get you there.
Wear sunscreen. This is such an easy addition to your day. Most basic face lotions, foundations, and creams have at least an SPF 15 in the product already.
Use a retinoid or retinol skin cream. Whether prescribed or over the counter, these creams tell your skin to do what it did in your early 20s. Be sure to wear sunscreen if you use them, they will make your skin sensitive to the sun!
Moisturize your skin. Yes, you can find a tinted moisturizer with SPF in it. In talking about minimalist skin care, grouping these products together is great, but for some with sensitive skin may struggle to find one product that does all the tricks.
Face massage. Go buy some really nice facial oil and massage at least once a week. This not only relaxes the fascia of the face, but helps drain the lymph tissue, promoting healthier, more smooth skin. Another massage tool would be a jade stone roller. You can find these at your local beauty supply store (I found mine at Ulta Beauty). This can also tighten the skin some too.
Exercise. Our body metabolizes better and has more energy when exercising even a few days a week for 30 minutes. It can be just walking and you’ll be better for it.
Consistent solid sleep. This is probably the best thing you can do for anti-aging in general. Our bodies repair itself during sleep. If you have little ones that make sleep a challenge, try for stricter bedtime protocol with them. You need the sleep you deserve and your family deserves. (No one needs a cranky parent or partner the next day!)
Eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, good fats, and proteins. Here’s a list of anti-aging foods. Don’t say no to what you love either! Learning to enjoy everything (in moderation, of course) will send signals of satisfaction to your brain. Oh, and do NOT feel guilty about the occasional goodie.
Fact: We are not going to look like we did in high school. What we can do is slow down the aging process by taking good measures now. Don't wait until the lines or sagging belly get unbearable! Taking action now will maintain or make better of the situation you are currently in. Simple health habits can truly make a difference. If you notice, these 7 anti aging practices are 4 things if you break it down. Take care of your skin, exercise, eat well, and get sleep. Live well, be free.
